10 Local history through the stratigraphic study of urban sanctuaries
Two dedications from the temple B5 (Fortuna Augusta) are dated to 164–165 AD, the co-reign of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus. The inscriptions commemorate the construction of the temple, the total cost of which was 70.000 sesterces, „substantially more than the median of HS 43,500” (Duncan-Jones). L. Iulius Titisenus Rogatus Kappianus and his son A. Titisenus Honortus Kappianus, members of the local elite in Musti, gave three-day games (ludi), cash equivalents (gifts) (sportulae) for the decurions, a banquet (epulum) and the oil used in the gymnasium (gymnasium) for the people. The seven mentioned members of the family Iulii with varying degrees of kinship contributed to the temple’s construction. The dedication placed in the portico confirms that the temple B5 was reconstructed in 364 AD. During the coregency of Valentinian I and Valens, in 364 AD, [Apr?]onianus, flamen perpetuus and curator rei publicae in Musti, reconstructed the temple. Hence, the action of [Apr?]onianus was took place exactly two hundred years after the temple's foundation (164/165AD AD).
