6 Musti in early Tunisian and French research
Short-lived excavations by Poinssot in 1930-1931 and excavation work by Boulouednine and Beschaouch between 1959 and 1962, briefly completed in 1964, uncovered numerous remains. Three pagan cult monuments, temples to Apollo, Ceres and Pluto. A large residential structure, numerous streets or via, the most important of which runs through the three-bay double arch to the upper part of the city. A basilica and a Byzantine citadel built on an earlier forum, which has never been revealed. With the exception of a few sketchy details and rare descriptions, the results of the research remain unknown. With a few exceptions, the investigations carried out by Naïdé Ferchiou in the 1970s revealed the presence of pre-Roman occupation during the Numidian period, as well as remains dated to late antiquity (research by Azeddine Beschaouch).
